Normas de convivencia (community-life rules)
Normas de convivencia are the community-life rules every Spanish university, public or private, must approve under Ley 3/2022: they bind the university community and include measures against violence, discrimination and harassment. They reach a colegio mayor or an affiliated residence through its university.

What they are, exactly
Ley 3/2022 on university community life requires public and private universities to approve their own community-life rules, binding on every member of the university community (art. 3.1), and gave them one year from its entry into force to do so (fourth additional provision). Private universities and private affiliated centres approve them on the basis of the act's principles (art. 2.2).
- What they promote: respect for diversity, freedom of expression, the elimination of every form of violence, discrimination or harassment, and respect for shared spaces, digital ones included (art. 3.2).
- What they include: prevention measures and specific procedures to channel complaints or reports of violence, discrimination or harassment (art. 4.2).
- How those complaints are handled: with confidentiality, diligence, impartiality and a ban on retaliation (art. 4.4).
- Before any disciplinary case: mediation (art. 5) and a Community-Life Committee with equal representation (art. 6).
Worth knowing
They are not the centre's house rules. The community-life rules belong to the university; the reglamento de régimen interno belongs to the college or residence, and must fit them. An affiliated colegio mayor is bound by those of the university it affiliates to; a private residence with no university link, by none. How they work day to day is in the guide on community-life rules.

- Colegio mayor adscritoA colegio mayor adscrito is an affiliated colegio mayor: promoted by a public or private non-profit entity other than the university and linked to it by affiliation, through an agreement. The other kind is the university's own, founded directly by it. Both are colegios mayores with all that this entails.
- Reglamento de régimen interno (house rules)The reglamento de régimen interno is the house rules of a colegio mayor or a residence: who governs it, how one gets in, each resident's rights and duties, its timetables and services, and how breaches are dealt with. If the centre depends on a university, it must fit that university's community-life rules.
- Ley 3/2022 (university community life)Ley 3/2022 of 24 February on university community life is the Spanish act that requires universities to approve community-life rules with measures against violence, discrimination and harassment, and sets the disciplinary regime for students.
