Verified business account
A verified business account, at Meta, is a business portfolio that has passed business verification: Meta has checked the business's name, address and contact details. On WhatsApp it lets the business write to more people while the window is closed, and it is required to apply for the blue tick.

What is verified and what changes
What Meta verifies is not a phone number but the business portfolio that holds it, the one grouping what used to be called a WABA. It asks for the business name, address, a phone number, an email address and a website; it confirms the connection to the business through one of the routes it offers and, if it cannot find the business, asks for official documents. Some Solution Partners authorised by Meta can submit the verification on the client's behalf.
The change shows in two places. One is the messaging limit: a new portfolio can write to 250 different numbers in 24 hours while the window is closed, and verifying the business is one of the routes up to 2,000. The other is the blue tick of an Official Business Account, which requires a verified portfolio, a number registered on the platform for at least 30 days, two-step verification switched on and an approved display name.
Worth knowing
What people take for granted: that "verified" means having the blue tick. They are two different things: verification belongs to the portfolio and the business applies for it; the tick belongs to each number, Meta grants it after a review, and it is not given to numbers on the WhatsApp Business app. Without the tick, the number does not show up when someone searches for it inside WhatsApp, unless they have it saved in their contacts.

- Messaging limitThe messaging limit is the maximum number of different people a business can write to through the WhatsApp Business Platform while the 24-hour window is closed, within a moving 24-hour period. Meta sets it for the whole business portfolio: it starts at 250 and rises in steps.
