Terms

Terms of use.

Bedel is a WhatsApp assistant that a hall of residence or student accommodation makes available to its residents, their families and its team. This is what you can expect from it, and what you can't.

This is a courtesy translation. The legally binding version of this document is the Spanish original, and it is the one that prevails in the event of any discrepancy. You can read it at the Spanish version of this page.

What it is

An assistant that answers the centre's WhatsApp: it answers questions about opening hours, house rules, the dining hall and administrative matters; it takes maintenance reports and gets them to the person responsible; and it helps the team organise itself. It answers using the information the centre has loaded, in the language you write to it in.

What it is NOT

It is not an emergency channel. If there is an immediate danger to life or health, call 112, Spain's emergency number. Bedel does not monitor or detect anything: it only passes on and classifies what someone writes to it. When a message describes something serious it passes it on as fast as it can to whoever should handle it, but it does not replace the emergency services or the centre's in-person care.

It does not decide on sensitive matters. Questions of money, exceptions to the rules, cancellations, or medical or legal matters are not resolved by the assistant: it passes them to the right person on the team.

It is not a substitute for human judgement. Responsibility for the centre's decisions remains the centre's.

Proper use

The service is for normal communication between the centre and its residents, their families and its team. Don't use it to send unlawful content, to impersonate another person, or to flood it deliberately. The centre may pause service to a number that makes abusive use of it.

Availability

We do what we can to keep the service always available, but it depends on third parties (WhatsApp/Meta, infrastructure and AI providers) and it can suffer interruptions. We do not guarantee a specific response time for each message.

Privacy

The processing of your data is governed by our privacy policy, and the controller is the centre you are writing to.
